Sunrise

Sunrise is a Java/SWT-based GUI tool that can convert websites and news feeds to Plucker documents for offline reading on your handheld. It is the author's successor to JPluck. (See also: Opusculus)

Pros:

  • Runs on Windows, very easy for new users to adopt
  • Simple to use user interface
  • Fast for small documents

Cons:

  • Non-Free, no source code
  • Will be orphaning off Sunrise adopters when the author's Palm-side viewer is completed
    • Plucker support will be dropped when the proprietary Palm viewer is completed
  • Does not support full Plucker distiller feature-set
    • No tables support
    • No support for robots.txt exclusion standard
  • Fails to convert large websites
